Love of the Game are Books So I'm curently reading this book and it is spectacular!!!! It has events that middle school kids can relate to. ***************************SPOILER ALERT*******************************The reason is for that is that there is a group of 8th graders that think they rule the school. The 8th graders are taking the younger grades food and items. Aside from that, the main character in the book loves to play football, and is a victim to the 8th grade group. So if you like the realistic fiction genre, this is the book for you! I am POSITVE that you will not be dissapointed. It will keep you entertained with all the exciting events coming to happen... . Middle school is full of new challenges for Jackson, Gig, Isaac, and Diego, four sports loving friends who have always stuck together Lockers that won t open, older and bigger kids, classes that are far apart, tons of homework there s a lot to get used to.One thing the boys are looking forward to, however, is making the football team Not every one will get what he wantMiddle school is full of new challenges for Jackson, Gig, Isaac, and Diego, four sports loving friends who have always stuck together Lockers that won t open, older and bigger kids, classes that are far apart, tons of homework there s a lot to get used to.One thing the boys are looking forward to, however, is making the football team Not every one will get what he wants, though, on the field and at home.. Popular Book Love of the Game Starting middle school has Jackson worried because he is also having to move into his mother's boyfriend's home. He already has a father; he doesn't need Ted, too. There are older students who are giving him a hard time, classes are difficult, and he is forced to be in a reading club. He has to take a food class, which is okay because there is a girl he likes in it. The one thing he looks forward to is football, but he is worried that his friend Diego won't go out for the team because his mother is afraid of injuries. His friend Gig is still concerned about his father in Afghanistan. Will all of these things get Jackson down, or will he be able to work everything out? Strengths: This is a nice easy read for boys who like sports, even though there aren't as many descriptions of games. Readers of Rich Wallace will like these. I liked the book club and the shout out to Ritter's baseball books! Weaknesses: Again with the bullies threatening swirlies and taking kids' lunch money. Sigh. I suppose it happens in some places.

  3. In the third title of his 4 for 4 sports series, John Coy follows sixth graders Jackson, Gig, Isaac, and Diego as they adjust to middle school where homework is as much a priority as football Jackson must decide between offense or defense on the football team and has to deal with moving into the house of his mother s boyfriend Gig is worried about his father who is serving in the military in Afghanistan Diego isn t sure that he even wants to play football since the chances of injury are high The [...]

  4. I gave this book a five star For its corny humor and good description. The story takes place at school and on the field. The main, main character is jackson and his fiends Gig, Diego, and Isaac they behave the way they do because they really want to make the football team. The problem is they don t know if they will make the team or be satisfied with what position they arethe theme or main idea of the story is no matter what happens keep trying.

  5. A good book about what it is like to be in middle school, make new friends, try new things like cooking and live your life between your dad and mom s house Oh yeah, and making the team My favorite character is G Man who calls himself that instead of grandpa because he thinks he is too young to be a grandpa

  6. Decent read for strong 4th grader and will be enjoyed by 5th graders as a general topic read Although the title and cover will draw students in thinking it is a football story it is not The few football player characters are extremely stereotypical There are some glaring errors from a football standpoint Story line moves along well, but let s face it NOT a realistic football book.

  7. Jackson is a boy that just started 6th grade and football The book takes place on the field, both of Jacksons homes and school Jackson wants to play defense but he doesn t want to get his friends upset so he joins offense At the end of the book Jackson joins defense and tells his friends the truth.

  8. It shows how he loved to play football and had to make some tough decicions if he should play defense or offense There was also some peer pressure because his friends wanted him to play on the offense side of the ball because they wanted him to SO that is why i like the book because it shows that he chose over peer pressure to play the position he wanted to play

  9. I like this book because it is about football. At the begging he makes a tough decision and he picks to play defense instead of offense. This is a very good book if you are interested in sports books you should read it.
