Blood Heat is a Ebook Blood Heat (Blood Lines, Book 4) by Maria Lima Paranormal Romance -Oct. 26th, 2010 4 ½ stars Maria Lima’s Blood Lines series is 1 that readers who love urban fantasy and a strong heroine (particularly fans of books like Laurell K. Hamilton’s early Anita Blake books) will enjoy. This is the author’s 4th book in the series and her heroine, Keira has just returned to her small town in Texas after extensive training in Canada . Keira learned she was the Kelly Heir. Her extended family has special magical talents but every so often one of them is born with all the talents. When Keira turned of age she was bombarded with all the talents and now is the Heir. Keira just wants to set up shop in Texas and relax but as the Heir she is responsible for all the supernaturals in the territory. She also has as a lover named Adam who happens to be a powerful vampire to assist her. But Keira likes to work hands on. And when the local werewolf alpha asks to meet her and she is asked to help in a series of mysterious shootings and the disappearance of a new werewolf couple Keira finds more than she expects. And unfortunately, the deaths keep mounting… This was a great read. I loved how the author drove into the wer society and I really got to know and care for many of them. The wer politics and how they are trying to mesh with the human in the area was interesting as was their clash with the strong religious group that doesn’t like outsiders. There were so many suspects! This story was well written and although Keira has a relationship with Adam it is really secondary to solving the disappearance of the werewolves in the area. This book reads like an exciting mystery story with a super cool detective who has some really neat paranormal abilities. The only dark spot for me was the strange relationship between Keira and her on and off again best friend, Bea. Bea is human but her character is whiny and weak compared to the other characters and sometimes I felt she was just thrown into the mix to make the story more complex. But since I didn’t care for her, I found her a distraction. They mystery is solved satisfactorily but Keira’s life as the Kelly Heir has some huge headaches. So, the ending is a cliffhanger and this made me very impatient for the author’s next installment. Fast paced, exciting, and imaginative. This is a series urban fantasy lovers will find a haven in. Bestseller Books Blood Heat Full review posted at http://urbanfantasyinvestigations.blo...The book starts as Keira has completed a 3 month training stint with Gigi on being the Kelly Heir and is now back in Rio Seco. The whole Court is getting ready for the big reception where all the of the people Keira and Adam will rule over come in and meet them and also where Keira will Blood Bond with her Brothers/protectors. If the stress of that isn't bad enough they are visited by a local werewolf pack that has been having members disappear and they jump right into that investigation. I didn't feel that Blood Heat had as much action as the previous books in the Blood Lines series. I still thought the book was written very well and we learn a little bit more about Adam and Keira's past. The ending will get you excited to read the next book as we will finally be getting into stuff about Keira's Mothers side of the family tree!! The next book is guaranteed to have a TON of drama.

I write dead people really.I m a writing geek with one foot in the real world and the other in the make believe.Sometime before the Revolution, I was born in Matanzas, Cuba, to a family of voracious readers and would be writers. In 1961, when it was clear that the situation wasn t going to change, my family emigrated to the United States, where I then discovered the magic of booksloads of books Starting with the public library, followed by the book sales in elementary school, then on from there. As a child, storytelling was part of our family dinner hour, when my father, who dreamt of becoming a writer, spoke of heroes, heroines and battles royale In this was mixed a love of both fictional and non fictional worlds, of history and splendor, dragons and them that slayed em It s no wonder that I grew up composing stories. The writing bug didn t get much of a workout in real life, however, as the corporate life only drew on my journalism degree as I cranked out marketing copy, feature stories and book reviews. The fiction muse kept calling and in the spring of 2005, was finally fed as my first published short story, The Butler Didn t Do It was published in Chesapeake Crimes I and garnered an Agatha Award nomination for Best Short Story. In 2007, my first novel, Matters of the Blood, debuted from Juno Books, then, an imprint of Wildside Press Blood Bargain, 2nd in the Blood Lines series came out November, 2008.In January 2009, Juno Books became an imprint of Pocket Books, a division of Simon Schuster The Blood Lines series is reborn again as Pocket re releases the first two books in September October 2009, followed by Blood Kin in November. In my day job, I work for an interactive Web agency in the DC area In the rest of my life, I m a writer, a fangrrl and as always, a voracious reader.

When I finished this book, I didn t have the satisfied feeling that I usually have when I read a book that I like It took me a little while to figure out why I mean I like the characters in the book and the world is interesting I really like the concept of the Clan, for example So why didn t I like the book I figured out it was because the whole book was about how bad the people in small towns are, that if they don t have the same views at Kiera s family they are bigoted It s about how those tha [...]

  11. I did finish this last night or rather the night before 1 11 11 lolBest cliff hanger EVER I can t wait for the next book This one was really good Although, I still would have liked scenes of Adam and Keira having some alone time Love those two together And in this, it really wasn t about Keira herself, but her helping others Still written in the first person, which I love, but a lot of the problems were not about her but about people in her care And about her taking the initiative in doing her [...]

  12. I do want to like this series, but sadly I can t or at least, not as much as I d like to There s just something that rings false throughout the dialogue real people wouldn t say the things that the characters do, when placed into the same situation They d probably not need to keep reminding themselves of their relationships, for starters I can t remember the last time I called a cousin Cousin and if most of my family were comprised of cousins, I definitely wouldn t use it Still, it s believable [...]

  13. In this book the twin brother who share a wife and the wife herself who were introduced in the previous novel become visible, and Keira refers to her brother Tucker and Niko and married Definitely a lot of variety in relationships It is also interesting how she meets the first guy she had sex with as a teenager and it ends up being nothing nobody cares Kudos for Lima.

  14. This series has got better Initially it was a bit slow but the plot has got convoluted, with a heroine who doesn t see things in a very contrived black and white, but wonder of wonders is able to see shades of grey.So it s not my favourite urban fantasy but it s not too bad.

  15. Got almost 100 pages in over the course of two weeks when I decided to throw in the towel I liked the earlier books in the series so I m not sure if I ve changed or the writing has, but I was bored out of my mind.

  16. I haven t read others in this series I think it s than a 3 but not quite a 4, maybe a 3.7 It had a slow start I ended up quite like the story I ll be looking for the rest of the series.

  17. A slow start but got better towards the end Wish the casualties in the pack could have been avoided Gotta read the next book now, talk about cliffhanger
