Potter is easily one of the 20th centuries most talented artists but the book is still wonderful without her illustrations. I bought a copy for myself and another for two friends who LOVE (I mean LOVE birds) and they thanked me so much and so often that I was reminded of how wonderful Potter's work truly is in touching so many of us who love nature. .
