Although I am not a fan of Miss Gross, I am willing to read her to see if she gets better. And she does. This story is about two girls and their struggle after being abandoned. Realism could not get more real here! I enjoyed the "older sister's" tales that were told to the younger; I thought them inventive and portentous. Although I did not quite like the way Groff interjected a future happening, which ruined the suspense of whether they'd get off the island, I note that it shows that the cycle of their lives, passed down from their prostitute mother, will continue for them in a way. That is not to say they will be hookers, but it is to say that one of them will be subservient and defamed by a man (cough cough, a white male patriarch). The story had a nice flow and used symbolism of the white dog that disliked humans to show the difference of experience versus the inexperience that the girls have, of perhaps had. An interesting story, creative and well-written.Popular Dogs Go Wolf Creat Lauren Groff Viral Ebook newyorker magazine 201August 28, 2017 IssueFiction, Short Story They d been left alone on the island, the two little girls Four and seven..
