  1. I loved the realistic theme in this book and particularly how it ends Things don t always go the way we might expect, or even hope for in life To portray a different ending would be to fluff up the harsh realities that are the consequences of our actions Every action we take in life directly influences the lives of others whether they are complicit in the sin, or not Too often the innocent are hurt the most And some things can never be made right no matter how hard we try.Ironically, I knew some [...]

  2. Sometimes life imitates art Not % but close I really enjoyed reading Shadows of Hope by Georgina Daniels It was thought provoking to be sure Marissa and Colin are married and not able to get pregnant after last miscarriage They fall about and he ends up having an affair The girl gets pregnant. The story is how they deal with this little problem I rooted for the wife and the other woman The only redeeming quality the husband had was wanting to be in the baby s life My take away is to always keep y [...]

  3. I found this book to be a refreshing change from some tales similar to this It addressed the topic head on without skirting the huge issues Adultery and infertility were two key topics in this book I loved the mention of doulas, grants for those in need of their services and found that especially wonderful as a doula myself The writing style is excellent and touched on many key phrases that would be said to a Christian woman in a marriage that is falling apart My only complaint would be that it [...]

  4. I was a little skeptical about this book, but I ve been meaning to read fiction Since I won an advanced review copy of this book through a giveaway, I figured the only thing I d lose was time.I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this book It held my attention throughout the story, and there were several times where I was at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next I was also very impressed with the quality of character development All the main characters had flaws and, and e [...]

  5. This book is not a romance like I usually read or review I would call it in the women s fiction genre It s the story of a troubled marriage that keeps getting worse Shadows of Hope by Georgiana Daniels is a very well written book, even though it involves adultery I had a lot of empathy for the wife in the story who although infertile herself, pours out her time running a pregnancy care center to encourage mothers to do what is best for their unborn children instead of choosing abortion Through [...]

  6. Not my usual style, but decided since I had just finished reading reviewing three pretty heavily detailed historical fiction books, I d try something lighter and different Quick reading, perhaps, but definitely nothing light about it This new to me author hit on a heavy topic and did so with such finesse, maneuvering me on quite an emotional roller coaster ride Never have I disliked a hero and I use the word loosely than Colin, who blames his indiscretions on his wife And Marissa is way too sma [...]

  7. Shadows of Hope by Georgiana Daniels is a wonderful novel filled with lots of twists and turns, as well as heartfelt emotions that increase with every page read Although I would categorize it as women s fiction, it is also Christian fiction The story centers around three main characters Marissa, Kaitlyn and Colin The main character Marissa has been struggling with infertility, a topic which is deftly handled by the author Although she is married, Marissa isn t feeling secure in her marriage Whil [...]

  8. Georgiana Daniels makes us think about the hard questions when she introduces Marrissa Moreau Marrissa Moreau works at a crisis pregnancy center She is infertile and this has lead to a chasm between her and her husband Colin Colin seems to be a very cold shallow character and she suspects Colin of cheating Kaitlyn is in her mid twenties and a college student She finds herself alone and pregnant She works as a barista at a local coffee bar where she and Marissa become friends Marissa befriends he [...]

  9. Shadows of Hope is exactly the kind of book I love one that delves into issues that real people struggle with A troubled marriage, an adulterous spouse, infertility, and forgiveness all come together to create some really compelling conflicts While the dramatic irony of Marisa and Kaitlyn not realizing their common bond was suspenseful, for me it would have been powerful to have the Big Reveal perhaps a bit sooner I thought the resolution was a little bit rushed That said, I love that Marisa is [...]

  10. This is inspirational fiction about a woman who works at a crisis pregnancy center and inadvertently befriends the woman who her husband impregnated Since the blurb discloses that much of the plot, I was surprised that it takes as long as it does for Marissa, the main character, to discover who her friend is Her point of view is in first person and the husband and friend s point of view is given in third There is so much about marriage and infertility that is realistic in this book and I appreci [...]

  11. I was very grateful to win this book on and this was my first time hearing of this author and if this is her first book it was a great start to her writing career I enjoyed reading this book very much It was written in 3 persons view points Marissa the wife, Colin the husband and cheater and Kaitlyn the 2nd woman in Colin s life Not wanting to spoil too much of the book I will say that the 2 women become friends without knowing they are the 2 women in Colin s life and a strong friendship evolves [...]

  12. Marissa, Colin, and Kaitlyn s lives are forever connected when Colin cheats on Marissa with Kaitlyn who ends up pregnant Kaitlyn comes to Marissa s pregnancy clinic and the two become friends Secrets are kept, worlds collide, and the women must decide what is most important I enjoyed this story It s a little like watching a train wreck You know that when Marissa and Kaitlyn discover how they are connected through Colin things will never be the same I found all of them to be highly relatable I wa [...]

  13. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in return for my honest opinion Well I have great things to say about the writing, however the story left me lacking in praise I get that it s a Christian Story But really what faith should be allowed to have people stay married when they do not love each other in the least, and keep hurting one or the other in this terrible marriage to stay together How stone age of them for thinking this.

  14. This was disappointing, especially since the writing for the most part wasn t bad The biggest bombshell wasn t released until the very end, so the resolution of that was less than satisfying While Marissa did find strength in the end, it wasn t enough to make a permanent decision She again, left it for Collin to make, who has proven to be even selfish than I could deal with.

  15. This is the first book I have read by Georgiana Daniels Shadows of Hope is a very emotional read Marissa works for a problem pregnancy center, a job that she has always loved But helping women having babies when she can t have her own is becoming difficult Especially when she thinks her husband is cheating Discoveries, new friends and decisions to be made This story is told from three points of view Each one learning and going through life s difficult journey.I received this book from NetGalley [...]

  16. This story had me clinging to my tablet a real page turner The emotion packed into each character oozed right off the page Amid such turmoil, there remains hope throughout The author gives food for thought, allowing us to see room for forgiveness in this heartbreaking dilemma The MC, Marissa, holds tightly to her faith as she looks for answers to how or if her marriage can be saved.Shadows of Hope is ideal for a book club There are questions following the story to guide your discussion It s easy [...]

  17. While I really wanted to like this book, I walked away somewhat disappointed The heroine s character was developed a bit, but some of the supporting characters seemed like fairly hollow caricatures The author s tendency to jump between perspectives didn t help, since the males all seemed to be one dimensional The premise of the book was plausible, but it became stilted as concealment of truth stretched on and on to the dramatic conclusion I understand that life is far from a fairy tale and art i [...]
