I was born on the Texas Mexico border in Laredo and grew up not only in Texas but Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico and Washington State.My mother is Mexican and my father is half Mexican the other half is a combination of Lebanese and English.To my good fortune, my brothers and I were raised with both Mexican and American culture and traditions I feel great pride in that.Work wise, I spent nearly 20 years in the newspaper business, 4 years as a fundraising director at a non profit and now work at the Boeing Company I m an author on the side, but would like to write full time Evangelina Takes Flight took over 4 years to write and 2 years to get it to publication I am thrilled with it and the honors its received I hope readers are inspired by Evangelina s journey from anxious and uncertain to determined and willing to take on life s unexpected challenges Messages I tried to convey in this book a bit wordy, I know Be proud of who you are there s only one person in the world like you, and that makes you all kinds of special The barometer of your self worth lies within you Operate from your core principles and you ll be just fine Your fate is not something that happens to you, it s something you aspire to, you plan for and act on Sure, life can throw you curve balls, but challenges are chances in disguise Take the challenges, learn and grow Imagine your BEST life, spread your wings and take flight.

This book will be a great extension to my global, sweet family stories I enjoyed the history of the book and my students can discuss the border of Texas, as well as the Mexican Revolution when they read this It almost has a lyrical tint as the author weaves a great story that makes you feel as if you are there facing the challenges of change in a land you love Overcoming racial issues and being brave is a great theme for this book.
