Boxed set of three bestselling suspense stories by Lindsey Stiles
Read this last year Under a Lucky Star is the sequel to Under the Wishing Star a far better book This book is okay, but not nearly as good Not much happens sometimes it s a bit boring However, we get to see Malcolm, Natalie, and little Sarah from Under the Wishing Star, because Derek the hero in this book is Natalie s beloved brother Diane Farr also wrote The Fortune Hunter, a five star keeper One of my faves in the Regency sub genreOT Lady Ballymere coldly connives to catch a wealthy bachelor f [...]
All four stars please and the revenge is the ultimate revenge that is had on one of the coldest, most conniving villains around There s a bit of Heyer in this book, for those who notice Quite different from the norm well worth searching out.
It s a historical romancen t go wrong with that I enjoyed it a lot.
Derek Whittaker, a younger son, falls for Cynthia, the cold dauther of the Earl of Ballymere When she cuts him and her engagement is announced to the lecher he saved her from, he s devastated Three years later, things have changed He s now the prosperous owner of Crosby Hall When his sister is about to give birth she sends for Derek Cynthia is also a guest and her parents are again trying to find a wealthy match for her after her first fiance died Eventually it works out Cynthia starts out as a [...]
Diane Farr has written a wonderful romance with a hero that believes in love at first sight and doesn t let that love die for years If you like beta heroes that are just too good to be true this story is for you Derek is a simple man He is not a duke or any other lord He is a secretary to one though One night at the opera he saves Cynthia, a young lady who is hiding from her soon to be fianc They share some kisses and then from there on out their feelings are set forever But their happily ever a [...]
Continuing story of the Whitakers Natalie s brother Derek meets a mysterious beauty at the opera and rescues her At the next ball he tries to reacquaint himself with the girl and she cuts him and shortly thereafter She becomes engaged to duke Three years later Derek finds out the duke never married the girl because he died before the marriage Derek is still angry at the fortune hunter but his heart is still longing for her Cute, funny, story Good read.
This was another very enjoyable Regency from Diane Farr with an unusual first meeting of the hero and heroine It was disconcerting to find characters from Heyer s Faro s Daughter appearing Sir James Filey and a mention of Lord Mablethorpe Once hero and heroine meet again, several years later, their path to a HEA is engrossing and, in places, quite moving.
An ice queen, a wicked mother, and the kind, handsome young man Sounds like a cliche but the author has written another delightful story about love and duty and fate.
