  1. Oh my I ve found another MINE book I look at you, his words were deeper, darker And thinkmine I wasn t particularly planning on reading this book just yet, but sometimes my finger seems to have a mind of its own It just clicked open the book so what else could I do, except start reading the first page, then the second, and the third I couldn t help but get swept up in this book and I had a hard time putting it down The story had flowed nicely, pulled me instantly into a world where paranormal cr [...]

  2. 74% dnf I hate it when that happens Look this is just one of those authors that does not work for me At all In trying to create turns and twists and suspense, she threw everything but the kitchen sink at this story And it got really old It was good I enjoyed the read Then, I was all Oh hell no, here we go down the street to Crazytown So, at 74%, I hit the delete button on my Kindle and returned this freebie god, I hope it was a freebie to the land of ia.

  3. Review posted on Demon Lover s Books MoreDuncan works for the FBI, but even though he s human, he knows what goes bump in the night And he knows it isn t good The Para Unit has been Duncan s home away from home for years.I thought it was neat that there are certain humans who are predisposed to being able to take the wolf bite and survive When Duncan was bitten, his body was not only able to handle the bite, but his alpha tendencies were magnified not just because of his personality either, but [...]

  4. DNF 86%I decided I rather stop reading it than rating it really low The book was really action packed and I liked some aspects of the story I appreciated the fact that the werewolves and vampires weren t mortal enemies I thought 3 would do it justice. But It went south Big time view spoiler Changing a werewolf into a vampire and making him a werepire hybrid yes, I made that up hide spoiler WellLike I haven t read, seen or heard about that for the gazillionth time.Add to that the fact that there i [...]

  5. This book started off well enough but midway through, I started to lose some interest My interest in the MC s was lukewarm I didn t love them nor did I dislike them Luckily, it did start to pick up as plots and twists were discovered Will I read the next installment Probably yes, as I would like to see which path the plot takes.

  6. 2.5This is one of those books I refer to as meh reads, because that s my response to them Meh Nothing really horrible about them, but nothing particularly good either I d say this was designed simply to appeal that lizard, hind brain we all seem to have It s all growly, ber alpha precariously contains his inner beast for the benefit of the simpering female who s caught his eye Meh Seen it all before I ll give Holley points for having the moxie to say what she wants But she also seemed perfectly [...]

  7. I loved the book s plot, the twists kept coming, right from when the FBI hero is bitten and turned into a werewolf to finding out that heroine, the doctor in the facility the hero has lusted after for a year is a vampire and step sister of the director Pate The heroine was turned a year ago saving her brother Pate, dude, he needs lessons, he was so manipulative and creepy I loved the whole prison thing and finding out that the hero came from a werewolf family Very good setup for the series and t [...]

  8. An average read, a couple of plot holes Fated mate equals love came across as just lust Quite simplistic overall story arc, the next appears to have potential.

  9. I actually intended to skip this series as I wasn t very interested in the main concept but I had this book so I thought what the hell and decided to read it and I gotta admit I gobbled it up.The characters were incredibly interesting main characters aside you didn t really know who was the villain and who was the good guy when it came to all the other characters I doubted everyone and a character I thought was evil and was definitely gonna end up dead managed to surprise me too The plot was ful [...]

  10. 3.5 Stars.Cynthia Eden books always leave me saying why didn t I read this sooner. No exception with The Wolf Within, you have a sexy guy, a kick ass girl and a well thought out, predictably unpredictable romantic suspense novel With the added bonus of a few paranormal beings thrown in for good measure.Great start to a series, straight onto book two for me

  11. A really great start to a great series This series still remained in the same universe of Ms Cynthia Eden s world of paranormal It also had the usual style of writing as well as the usual types of hero and heroine If you already are the fan of Ms Cynthia Eden, this first book to the Purgatory series will not disappoint you.4.75 stars

  12. FBI Special Agent Duncan McGuire knew the risks and the consequences, he knew the score Nonetheless, in a twinkling of an eye he was exposed Trapped in an alley, Duncan became what he d been so excellent at hunting, a werewolf His life changed forever Again No longer was Duncan part of an elite team hunting paranormals, he was a paranormal Duncan cursed the friend that wouldn t kill him.Containment meant sexy Dr Holly Young, just one reason to not want to go Plus he was under her spell as a man [...]

  13. Three sex scenes, lots of blood gore, minimal or no cussing, several typos A solid suspense with lots of earthy, passionate sizzle First book in the Purgatory series, involving werewolves, vampires, and humans, with heroes and zeroes in all three species It s set in and around Seattle, mainly at a compound in the woods, an FBI operated containment center and infirmary for paranormal creatures The last part of the book is set out on an island off the coast of Washington state, in a special prison [...]

  14. Sigh So today I took The Wolf Within outside with me so I could read a little bit of it while the kids played I figured I would read a few chapters and then go in to start dinner Yeah, that is not what happened By the time I finally came up for air I was over 75% done with the story and had to call my Hubby to pick up pizza for dinner Yes, it is that good Duncan McGuire is an FBI Special Agent assigned to the secret Para Unit This special unit is charged with taking dangerous paranormal beings o [...]

  15. The wolf within by Cynthia Eden is a good story I enjoyed it immensely It takes the werewolf vampire genre a step further than I previously seen Duncan McGuire works for the paranormal division of the FBI They hunt rogue werewolves and vampires who go on murderous sprees killing humans The humans except for a handfull, have no idea these monsters exist Some of the humans and rogues suffer injuries due to the nature of the game That s where Holly comes in Shes a doctor scientist who also works fo [...]

  16. I absolutely LOVE Cynthia Eden s books and writing, but this one came up short to say the least The story wasn t even all that intriquing like her stories usually are The characters weren t really written to where you could either love or hate them There just wasn t enough information about them to do that The build up for the fight or even the ending wasn t even strong There were no surprises like usual, no falling in love with the character that I usually do with Cynthia s books Nothing I will [...]

  17. Hot, hot, hot and another amazing awesome paranormal world Cynthia Eden can you do no wrong Just read it, totally awesome

  18. Good story, well written, lots of twists, hints of who might be the bad guy but had to wait until the end The H is turned wolf, h is a vamp in hiding, H is mad for her Her brother is shady, his brother is a killer and there are lots of hints about who the alpha really is The H will have to fight if he wants to keep the h Lots of near death fights but it is on HFN.

  19. Not the worst paranormal romance I ve read recently but that doesn t make it good either Too many tropey characters but a strong enough plot line.

  20. THE WOLF WITHIN Purgatory 1 by Cynthia EdenTHE WOLF WITHIN is the November 15th, 2012 release from Cynthia Eden s NEW paranormal Purgatory series Like the name implies, Purgatory is a holding prison for members of the supernatural race, only this Purgatory holds the ones who cannot be controlled.Duncan McGuire is one of the FBI Para Unit s most lethal and powerful werewolf hunters, but on this night Duncan would become the victim of a werewolf bite that will force his partner to make the decisio [...]

  21. 4.5 stars I loved the chemistry Hot vamps and werewolves all the way I really enjoyed THE WOLF WITHIN, which really shouldn t surprise me because overall Cynthia Eden books are really good I guess my hesitation came from the paranormal aspect Now, I m eager to read book two and give some of her other paranormal reads a try The story picks up quick with FBI special Agent Duncan getting turned into a werewolf As he s brought back to facility to undergo observation, to make sure he can keep control [...]

  22. I confess that I read book two in this series prior to reading book one And honestly, that was okay I loved book two, and it made me want to back track and get the beginning of this series and the background of some of these characters The Wolf Within did not disappoint Not only do we get an intense romantic relationship between Duncan and Holly, but we also get an incredible paranormal storyline taking twist upon twist Duncan and Holly were really intense The warm attraction they had to one ano [...]

  23. I was poking through the Kindle Lendable Library for Prime because today is the last day of the month and I remembered I hadn t borrowed anything yet and was in the mood for something with an intense, primal, animalistic flavor to it, so when I saw that Cynthia Eden had a book available that I hadn t read yet and really, how the heck did that happen , I had to snatch it up.It was just what I was looking for, with Ms Eden s trademark heat and mouthwatering chemistry, combined with that scrumptiou [...]

  24. for someone who claims to not like paranormal, I sure one clicked a lot of paranormal books lmao okthis book started out greatly.but then it fizzled out midway and just basically went everywhere towards the end all the twists were like balls shooting out of the cannon for me to catch and me getting hit in the face and yelling ENOUGHHHHHH I didn t care much about the two main characters it s the side characters like Shane and Connor that intrigued me, despite their 5 min screentime also unless I [...]

  25. I really enjoyed this first book in the Purgatory series After being bitten by a werewolf while working for a special paranormal branch of the FBI, Duncan finds himself turned into one of the creatures he typical hunts Unsure of his new position in the paranormal world Duncan finds solace in the least likely of places, the arms of a vampire I really enjoyed the passion between Duncan and Holly and I can t wait to read of this series.

  26. This was an enjoyable read The suspense and world building was very good, however the romance fell a little flat for me I could believe that what the characters felt for each other was lust, but the HEA at the end was a little unbelievable However, I really enjoyed all the characters, and I ll definitely be reading the rest of the books in the series.
