  1. Recently, on his radio show about my latest novel, the interviewer Lewis Burke Frumkes asked me, What did you read when you were young I told him about this one book that I had read in my youth over and over However, for decades I had been unable to find this novel, whose title in French and in the Hebrew translation the language of my childhood was In The Family This title meant rather the opposite of the English translation, Nobody s Girl, which is apt In my pre and early teens, I became engr [...]

  2. I just remember finishing the book in one day.It was a record for me back at that age because I was only a 12 year old girl.I couldn t get enough of it.Reading the story of Perine s life after having her viewed on the Tv screen its animation was a great joy

  4. The sad story of a little girl who becomes an orphan en route to find her grandfather who had disowned her family because her father left his wealth to marry a gypsy, the girl of his dreams The little girl faces many trials as she learns to navigate this world alone I accidentally stumbled upon this book when I was in 4th grade No one had checked it out from the library for about 15 years, and I instantly fell head over heels in love with it I checked it out two or three times a year after that [...]

  5. What a fascinating depiction of class and age based morality in the Industrial Age Should I worry that I find it impossible to read it any other way I admit, I liked Perrine there are qualities in her that seem familiar, for sure but I m not sure I d want the young women in my life trying to be good like her.I was also fascinated by the class race issues related to the girl s upper class Indian mother.

  6. My mother gave me this book as a gift and I read it many times I loved the story and cried over the poor girl s trials and tribulations until the happy ending when she and her grandfather were united Ihe next year I received Nobody s Boy and read that avidlly, too, although it wasn t as great as it s companion Years ago I gave them to one of my neices, also an avid reader I hope she enjoyed them as much as I did.

  7. The version of this book that I read and re read almost yearly was titled The Adventures of Perrine It was the ultimate kid survival book, with Perrine living alone, feeding on bulbs and weaving with rushes, etc etc It was very exciting to an impressionable child

  8. This was one of the best books I ve read Throughout the book, each chapter brings you closer to the climatic point in the story Unlike Sans Famille, it stays humble throughout Perrine ,as a whole, knew who she was and what was to be done From refusing to buy a fancy dress at the store with given money from M Vulfran to getting up at the same time in the morning to be of assistance to the English mechanics She didn t get the riches into her head while still being grateful However it was until Fab [...]

  10. I think This is the best book about family I had a chance to read the book Khong gia dinh so I knew another book of Hector Malot this book. Both of them were so attractive They made me have interest in books Each book tells stories about the journey to find their family Each place where the main charactor visited on the journey, teaches us many useful and meaningful lessons They are so brave, always believe in the road ahead, persistent.Difficulties which they had, made them stronger and intelli [...]

  14. Together with Nobody s Boy, this book melted my heart and reminded me to be brave at the same time I ve read it over 10 times since i was a kid Now i don t remember details, but the spirit is still here, the love, the honest, beautiful and brave eyes of the girl still make me feel a little ashamed everytime i wanna be weak and lazy girl, yeah

  16. I m really thrilling when I m at final paper of this book The story is amazing In my opinion, this book is better than Khong Gia Dinh Main charater Perrine is a good girl and she is a model of behaviour for children.
