Brian Sibley is an English author who has written over 100 hours of radio drama and has written and presented hundreds of radio documentaries, features and weekly programmes.In 1981, he co wrote BBC Radio 4 s adaptation of Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings with Michael Bakewell, and has also adapted C S Lewis s The Chronicles of Narnia and Mervyn Peake s Gormenghast for Radio 4, for which he received a Sony Radio Award in 1985.As a broadcaster, he was a contributor to and then regular presenter of the former BBC Radio 4 arts programme Kaleidoscope and the BBC World Service arts magazine, Meridian He also presented the Radio 4 film programme, Talking Pictures and chaired the radio panel games Break A Leg and Screen Test, and presented several seasons of the BBC television programme, First Light.The Daily Telegraph radio critic, Gillian Reynolds gave him the accolade magician of the airwaves.

It s fascinating to learn the inside scoop on movie making, especially the first film in this breathtakingly beautiful trilogy This book only covers The Fellowship of the Ring, so characters in the second and third films are not mentioned This book contains a section about the filmmaking from Peter Jackson, comments from each actors, and full page quality color images A cherished keepsake to read again and again not just for your coffee table

A lovely book with interviews and full color pictures from the making of the original LOTR trilogy the only drawback is that although it s supposedly a complete movie guide to the whole story, this book came out at the same time as the Fellowship of the Ring, and therefore doesn t deal with the other two films much I did enjoy it, however, especially from the 2012 perspective of just having seen The Hobbit there is a funny little comment by Peter Jackson in this book where he says with convictio [...]

This was a high level overview on the making of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and had some interesting information on how everything from the costuming, scenes, and concepts came together.There were about 30 pages about some of the actors and their relationship with the book, and being cast I was less interested in what movies they had been in previously, so skipped those paragraphs since I can look them up on if I really wanted to.I liked seeing the character comparative height chart and readi [...]

I haven t read the book The Lord of the Rings but the movies are among my favourite I do intend to read it though one day.Reading this was interesting as it gave a lot of behind the scenes information and about Peter Jackson It s also interesting in that ot only have I have seen all three Lord of the Rings movies but also all three of The Hobbit movies, which isn t even on anyone s mind yet when this book was written It would be good to read The hobbit version of this book to learn the thoughts [...]

This is one of those official movie tie in books, and it s got great photographs, and it reads like a glorified magazine not to mention that since it came out with the first film, it s missing a lot of information As a fan of the films I want to know than what New Line s marketing machine wants me to know as the first film is coming out It would have been nice if the book told the complete story of the making of the films, like the Lord of the Films by J.W Braun.

Very good Most interesting Nice pictures I love Lord of the Rings and this was a good companion One disappointment, though, was that it only covered the first movie And no picture of the Mines of Moria, my personal favorite part in that one Or of the Balrog But nice, very nice, photos of all the main actors So A good one

  11. Amazing what went into the making of this film The actors spent considerable time getting into character and all relayed a deep appreciation for the writing of Tolkien s triology and the script developed from the books Peter Jackson is an outstanding Director

  23. Although I liked Brian Sibley s Making of LOTR book better than this one because it was comprehensive, this was a great read too for anybody who is a fan of the movies.
