  1. Tsugumi ba Profile in Japanese , born in Tokyo, Japan, is a writer best known for the manga Death Note His her real identity is a closely guarded secret As stated by the profile placed at the beginning of each Death Note manga, ba collects teacups and develops manga plots while holding his knees on a chair, similar to a habit of L, one of the main characters of the series. There is speculation that Tsugumi ba is a pen name and that he is really Hiroshi Gam Pointing out that in Bakuman the main character s uncle was a one hit wonder manga artist who worked on a gag super hero manga, very similar to Gam and Tottemo Luckyman in all aspects Also that the storyboards drawn by ba greatly resemble Tottemo Luckyman in style.

  1. Ohhhh this took a hugely different turn from the first 4 books Not that I m SAD or anything Just surprised, really Kira s power is in the hands of evil companiesd this just makes me a little less invested because I DON T CARE ABOUT THE COMPANIES When it was just completely Light vs L I was 100000% invested because I love them both.Don t get me wrong though THERE WAS STILL SO MANY GOOD THINGS AND I M STILL DEFINITELY ENJOYING THIS SERIES.A RANDOM LIST OF MY THOUGHTS As the art on the front cover [...]

  2. Eh This seemed to suddenly change directions and now nothing is like it was The original premise and conflict that were so interesting seem to have been thrown to the side in exchange for these corrupt businessmen And will Misa ever do anything that doesn t revolve around Light What ever happened with the Police Chief s health He had a heart attack like two issues ago, supposedly stress induced, and now all this goes down with his son but he is fine Why was Misa kept in sensory deprivation confi [...]

  3. 4.5 Stars Still really great This one has a lot of build up for what will be going down in the next volume I am so pumped for it

  4. The plot, the character development, the execution are still perfect, but I have to admit I liked the original concept way better I miss the Light going up against L in epic fight of wits.I don t care for the new characters that have been introduced and consequently I m nowhere near as invested as I was It s also taking a very Hollywood turn which makes everything very predictable.Last, but not least, I m disappointed by Misa s character development I was hoping she s gradually mature and become [...]

  5. Another flawless instalment The humour, though short lived and rare, was scintillating as always.Ohba never fails to impress Alas, it may be some time before I can return to the Kira Investigation There seems to be an endless influx of trivial books that have taken a liking to butting themselves into my TBR list If they were animate, you can be sure that I d put them in my death note._____________________________Reread on 22 03 2015

  6. 3.5 stars I definitely liked this one than the last volume, but I really missed Light s personality The event that took place just took away a big part of what I love about Death Note and I felt a bit disconnected from the story because of it.I have Volume 6 ready to read but I m sad, the series is going downhill.

  7. Only three stars for this volume because I think Light s voluntary memory wipe is a total cop out.ough to be honest, I didn t see many other ways to extend the plot without putting Light as Kira to rest for awhile and transferring the power to kill to another character.Otherwise, the series remains enjoyable, even though Misa drives me nuts.

  10. 3.25This volume has been the least thrilling I m using that word very lightly so far there was a lot of strategy and build up in this though therefore I m expecting big things from volume 6.

  11. This is my main review for the entire series It doesn t really apply to this book, but it s far intelligent than anything I have to say here, so just read that Also, unmarked spoilers for previous books follow You ve been warned. Some background, in case you re too lazy to click the link I have loved Death Note up until now I loved the artwork I loved the characters I loved the moral complexity I loved the suspense At this point in the anime, I had no reason to believe that this would change And [...]

  13. A filler volume It s super slow and much of things you enjoy Death Note for take somewhat of a back seat.

  14. In this new installment, the pattern changes dramatically After the events of the last volume, with Light imprisoned, a new Kira makes his appearance, inclined to use the diary to acquire power that punish the villains Besides, having the basic elements of the series been altered, the investigative part is much evident here Some supporting characters have been introduced, but they seem taken from a television series view spoiler the trickster and the thief as external consultants hide spoiler [...]

  15. With volume 4 having reached a tense conclusion, I was both excited for this follow up volume, and at the same time apprehensive for what direction the story would take Had I not already known there were 12 volumes in the Death Note series, I would have been convinced that the story would have been about to have complete its arc in Whiteout My guess is that the writer may have planned for this as well, however been encouraged to write in light of the story s success Volume 5 opens up a whole ne [...]

  16. The fifth volume of Death Note Whiteout finally takes the story to another level The series so far has been compelling but a bit too repetitive and tedious with its tendency to circulate the same core setup But now we get a true shift in the status quo and that shift brings some fresh storytelling with it Whiteout is a balanced, thrilling ride from beginning til end and it isn t afraid to take risks or expand the scope of this saga If only we could get a bit substance to fill all these complex [...]

  17. Quite an interesting turn of events set up here Light s personality change after getting rid of and thus, forgetting the Death Note makes me wonder just how much of what we d previously saw of him was because of the influence of the Note itself, and possibly Ryuk.

  18. I ll be doing a overall review of volumes 1 6, but just wanted to share why the lower rating on this one Without giving away too much, the change in Light s position makes the pace change a little bit since they re looking in a different direction It s still engaging and the ending of this volume makes me want to pick up the next one immediately Stay tuned Overall review of first and second half of the completed Death Note series will be found at missymaysreadingnook
