  1. My life has been a series of left turns that nevertheless took me in the right direction though it didn t always seem so at the time I went to college to be a theater major and ended up studying the Renaissance I went to grad school to become a college administrator and loved to teach so much I became a college professor instead I thought I wanted to be a Tudor Stuart historian, and found myself a historian of science I started blogging because a friend needed help on a project in 2006 and am still blogging about wine today I started writing a novel in the fall of 2008, and it became a New York Times Bestseller in February 2011 A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES The second volume in the All Souls Trilogy, SHADOW OF NIGHT, came out in July 2012 and debuted at 1 on the NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller s List What s next The final volume of the trilogy, of course THE BOOK OF LIFE, coming July 15 2014 to the US, UK, Canada, and Republic of Ireland.

  1. This took me a long time to through simply because there was too much time since reading the first It was decent I suppose, though a little difficult to keep up with all the time travel stuff I do wish for a third, would love to see how Matthew and Diana fair, and also would like to see them reunited with Jack and Annie Now off to find something else to read

  2. I LOVED both volumes so far by Ms Harkness When I finished the second novel, I immediately jumped up and went to my computer to order the third part of this trilogy I was devastated that it was not yet published And yetI m still hanging in as it is now DAYS away from release I cannot wait to receive my copy The wait is expected as this was the single most complex paranormal romantic historical fiction book I have ever had the please to read To those negative people who whine about how long it to [...]

  3. This book was not my favorite The first book was great but if I hadn t read the first one I would not have forced myself to finish the second one It was sort of all over the place I can tell the information might be important later, but it was not great I wouldn t recommend this book because I think it might be possible to follow the series without this book It was almost like the middle of a book If this series was a whole book that was divided into 3 I would believe it That is what it felt lik [...]

  4. I loved this book The history, the beloved people we ve all learned about in English and history class, being part of these books as demons and vampires was perfect The details were astounding and I have to admit, I m one to sometimes skip over them But not in this book It was so well written I couldn t skip anything I cried, and I already miss the characters we met from the sixteenth century I can t wait for book 3.

  5. Read my review of A Discovery of Witches I like the settings in this book than in the first and therefor it gets 3 stars and not only 2 I like the history and I had clear pictures in my head of the surroundings but I don t feel the protagonists emotions and love for her vampire husbond or for anything else she likes hates etc It is way to cliche

  6. An improvement on the first Diana becomes a little less annoying and the magic becomes a little real I enjoyed the movement into the vampire world and the theme of loyalty coming through The moving location gave relief and added another element with a nice job done describing the surroundings It really started to feel magickal.

  7. The book did not let you down as the characters return to the past The trick is not to tamper with history or they could tamper with their own destiny Now the waiting begins for the final book in the series.

  8. Curiosity I read this trilogy and now I see a Volume 2 of the 1st book in the Trilogy Is this an addition to the story or just a different volume that was published after 1, but before 2 3 Help me Out I just need to know what this really is

  9. I was so excited, at the end of the first book, that they would be traveling back in time to Shakespeare s time, but was disappointed in how it all went in book two Still hopeful for book three

  10. Didn t actually read Japanese edition Wanted this re read to count toward this year s challenge without subtracting from a previous year s challenge.

  11. A fun quick read, addicting and much better written than Stephanie Meyer s bland Twilight Series Love the time travel and little known historical tidbits about characters in the book.
